TWENDE PAMOJA
Twende Pamoja is a Kenya-based non-profit organization dedicated to uplifting girls and women in Ndhiwa, Homa Bay County. Founded in 2013 and rebranded in 2019, the organization adopted the name Twende Pamoja—Swahili for "Let's Go Together"—to emphasize its commitment to collective progress and inclusive community development. Our work directly supports Kenya’s efforts toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a focus on gender equality, education, and economic empowerment.

“Being part of the 4K Club at Nyarath Comprehensive and taking part in tree planting has been such an exciting experience. I’ve learned how to care for the environment and why trees matter for our future. It feels good to do something that helps our school and the planet.”

"Watching the girls grow, not just in class but in how they carry themselves, how they speak up, and how they support one another, has been the most fulfilling part of my work. As their teacher, girls’ advocate, and netball coach, I’ve seen shy girls become leaders, and it fills me with so much hope. I’ve seen firsthand how Twende Pamoja is transforming lives. It has created a safe space where girls can dream and thrive. I’m truly honoured to walk this journey with them."

“Before joining the girls’ support group, I used to keep to myself. But now, I feel more confident, more curious, and more excited about learning, especially science and technology. The STEAM sessions opened my eyes to things I never imagined I could do. Using the VR headsets was like stepping into a whole new world. It made me believe that my dreams are valid, and that I, too, can be part of building the future."

"My journey with this program began when I was the Girls’ Advocate at Ndhiwa Township. Now, as Deputy Headteacher at Pala Comprehensive School, I carry those lessons with me every day. Working closely with girls has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my career. I’ve seen quiet students find their voice through music and drama, and girls who once doubted themselves now lead with confidence. Twende Pamoja programs don't just support education, they nurture potential and transform lives.”

“As a Headteacher, I have seen how Twende Pamoja is transforming lives in ways that truly matter. This program goes beyond academics. Our students are gaining confidence, improving their behavior, and opening up to new opportunities. They’ve been exposed to digital tools, creative arts, life skills, and even hands-on learning through our school farm. The farm is teaching them responsibility, teamwork, and sustainability — and it’s putting food on the table, too. Teachers feel more empowered, parents are more engaged, and learners are dreaming bigger. Twende Pamoja has brought hope, structure, and a strong sense of purpose to our school.”
