Meet Vivian Adhiambo, an aspiring Orthopedic Surgeon

Vivian is a remarkable 16-year-old student at Ogande Girls High School. Her journey is one of unwavering determination, resilience, and the invaluable support of Twende Pamoja.

In 2019, Vivian’s life took a profound turn when she was admitted to Ogande Girls High School, setting her on the path towards her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE). Today, she’s filled with optimism, eagerly preparing for her upcoming KCSE exams as she aspires to become an orthopedic surgeon.

“I aspire to heal more than bones; I dream of mending lives. With hopes of becoming an Orthopedic Surgeon, my journey is filled with promise, thanks to the unwavering support of Twende Pamoja.”

says Vivian with a glimmer of hope in her eyes.

Vivian is not just a student; she’s also a loving sister to three siblings – Akinyi, Samwel, and Scovia. Her family has faced immense hardships. Vivian’s father, following a stroke, became paralyzed and was unable to continue his usual work. Tragedy struck once more when her mother succumbed to chronic heart disease in 2018. The burden of grief and loss weighed heavily on Vivian, but she persevered with incredible strength.

Vivian’s journey was marked by a congenital abnormality that caused deformities in her legs, leaving her with bow legs. This not only led to low self-esteem but also forced her to drop out of school for a year.

“I vividly recall the excruciating pain in my knee joints and the constant pressure my weak bones endured,” says Vivian.

Twende Pamoja played a pivotal role in supporting her operation, performed by skilled surgeons at Nyabondo Mission Hospital. After the surgery, Vivian courageously returned to school in the middle of the year and with Twende Pamoja’s support, she successfully completed her Primary Education exams in 2019. Her results were outstanding, with 349 marks out of 500, making her the best girl in her school and the second-best performer that year.

Today, Vivian is not just a student – she’s a symbol of hope, determination, and the transformative power of support. With Twende Pamoja by her side, she eagerly anticipates her upcoming Secondary Education exams, working towards her dream of becoming an orthopedic surgeon. Her journey is a testament to her unyielding spirit and the incredible impact of Twende Pamoja in her life.

“THANK YOU to Twende Pamoja for being my guiding light and unwavering support,” says Vivian.
