Team Kenya’s Inspiring Visit to Twende Pamoja

Volunteers Sparking Hope, Unity, and Lasting Impact

In June 2025, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming four incredible volunteers from Team Kenya to Twende Pamoja. Jess, Ellise, Cache-Dior and Amy arrived not only with their skills and stories, but with hearts full of kindness, humility and curiosity. From the very start, they felt like part of the family.

The immersed themselves fully in our day-to-day life. They joined school sessions and listened closely as girls shared their hopes, questions and dreams. They strolled through our model and demonstration farms, asking thoughtful questions and showing genuine interest in how we grow and adapt with the land.

They sat with women in our communities, laughing, learning and exchanging stories across cultures. Mealtimes became moments of laughter and reflection, as they bonded with our staff over local dishes and shared experiences. In every interaction, they brought presence, humility and warmth — not as guests, but as people who truly wanted to understand and walk alongside us.

More Than Just Visitors - Champions of Change Bringing Light to Ndhiwa

From the moment they arrived in Ndhiwa, they engaged with sincerity and open minds. They listened deeply, asked thoughtful questions, and gave generously of their time and talents.

  • Jess, with her background in Sociology, Politics and Law, was especially curious about the planning that drives our programmes and the structural challenges that girls in our community face.
  • Ellise, whose experience in human rights and women’s empowerment was evident throughout, offered powerful insights and thoughtful contributions in every space she entered.
  • Cache-Dior radiated energy, warmth and joy. Her passion for activism, culture and learning was clear in every interaction, and she connected so beautifully with our young people.
  • Amy, with her calm presence and creative eye, helped us document the heart of our work through photography, capturing everyday moments in a respectful, meaningful way.

Though they arrived as volunteers, they became collaborators, friends and fellow dreamers.

A Tapestry of Shared Moments

We will hold on to so many moments: a quiet exchange during a mentorship session, laughter shared while teaching digital skills, an honest discussion on ethical storytelling, or the spontaneous dancing and singing after a school visit.

One of the most unforgettable scenes was seeing young girls shine on the netball pitch—confident, joyful and celebrated. These were not grand gestures, but simple, powerful moments that reminded us of the strength found in togetherness.

Their visit reaffirmed something we have always believed: that the most meaningful change often begins with deep listening, respectful connection and being fully present.

With Full Hearts, We Say Thank You

To Jess, Ellise, Cache-Dior and Amy—thank you. Thank you for choosing to spend your time with us, not as outsiders, but as learners, supporters and friends. Thank you for believing in our girls, our work and our vision for a more just and empowered community.

As you return to the UK, know that you leave behind more than memories. You have strengthened partnerships, inspired the next generation of leaders, and reminded us that solidarity knows no borders.

From all of us at Twende Pamoja, asante sana. You will always have a home here.
