Twende Pamoja Expands to 21 Schools in Ndhiwa

Twende Pamoja’s Bold Leap from 16 to 21 Partner Schools

At the heart of Twende Pamoja’s mission is a belief in the transformative power of education—especially when it’s rooted in community and fueled by collaboration. In 2025, that vision has taken a bold leap forward. With the addition of five new partner schools—Rota, Dago, Kome, Yiembe, and Arembe Comprehensive Primary Schools—Twende Pamoja now proudly works alongside 21 schools in Ndhiwa.

Why This Expansion Matters

Ndhiwa is a region rich in culture and community, yet deeply affected by climate change, poverty, and educational inequality. Here, the need is urgent—but so is the potential. In every classroom, we meet children, particularly girls, who are hungry to learn and ready to lead if only given the chance.

By joining forces with more schools, we are:

  • Supporting and training more teachers to become innovative educators
  • Inspiring more girls to pursue their education fearlessly
  • Engaging entire communities in the success of their children
  • This is not just growth in numbers—it’s growth in impact.

We empower educators to be agents of change. We work to make schools spaces where girls are seen, heard, and celebrated. And we ensure that parents, caregivers, and local leaders are part of the journey.

As we welcome five new schools into our network, we stay committed to our personalized approach—adapting our support to meet each school’s unique needs, challenges, and aspirations.

Impact of these Collaborations:
Real Stories

The impact of Twende Pamoja isn’t theoretical. It’s real. It’s lived. And it’s life-changing.

Meet Joan, Loice, and Hafsa—three young women whose stories show what happens when communities come together to support a girl’s education.

Joan’s Journey: From Classroom to Laboratory

Joan’s path to becoming a licensed medical laboratory scientist began in one of our partner schools, where the headteacher recognised her potential and connected her with Twende Pamoja. From then on, her school provided the foundation, and the programme filled the gaps—covering tuition, uniforms, and lab fees throughout her academic journey.

Thanks to that seamless collaboration, Joan was able to focus on her passion for science. Today, she not only holds a degree but also volunteers her time to uplift others in her community—proof that when schools and programmes work together, dreams take flight.

Loice’s Breakthrough: Health, Hope, and HE

For Loice, school wasn’t just a place to learn—it was her lifeline. Battling poverty and jigger infestation, she struggled to attend classes. But her school advocated for her, and with Twende Pamoja stepping in, she regained her health and her self-worth.

With support from her school and the programme, Loice excelled academically, eventually graduating with a degree in Applied Physics (Electronics and Instrumentation). She now serves as a role model, encouraging girls to persevere no matter the odds.

Hafsa’s Rise: Empowered Through Education

Hafsa’s transformation also began in one of our trusted partner schools, where she participated in empowerment sessions and the Football for Empowerment programme. Her teachers provided encouragement, while Twende Pamoja offered financial and emotional support.

She later pursued a Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, proving that technical fields are no longer out of reach for girls. Now, Hafsa is driven to use her skills to uplift her community—just as her school and Twende Pamoja did for her.

The success stories of Joan, Loice, and Hafsa are not isolated events—they are the result of deep collaboration and mutual commitment. These five schools have embraced a model of partnership that puts girls at the centre, recognising their potential and actively working to remove the barriers they face.

As we continue to grow Twende Pamoja, our alliance with schools remains the cornerstone of our work. We’re not just investing in students—we’re investing in entire school communities that support, protect, and inspire the next generation of change-makers.
